An idea so sensible, it must never be implemented. Never, ever. Ner-ver.

I say have 2 moderators, a Libtard and a Conservative. They each moderate their opposing party's candidate! Problem solved.

Let's make it entertaining. Have the candidates take turns answering questions, when they answer a question, they down a shot. Last one standing wins the debate.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.

That sounds funny until I think of all the people I know who do disturbing things when they get drunk... and I really don't need to see Hilary strip and do a table dance...

You think we want to see Trump that way.  [barf] [barf]

I like the idea of each candidate selecting a moderator to ask questions of the other candidate.  I also think the local parties should each get half the tickets for the audience.  That way you get plenty of partisans in the crowd both ways.  Regardless, I do agree the debate shouldn't be set up and run by some news network of journalist hacks.  You could still include rebuttal, but the moderator that asks the questions handles things until the next question.

Should each candidate pick the questions to be asked of the other guy?  Or just let the moderators pick them?

One of the Republican Primary events had each candidate speak and answer questions for about 30 minutes individually with a single moderator.  I thought that was a good change of pace.

Bet his boobs are firmer than Hillary's.

I still think Thunderdome is a viable debate format.

Instead of media spotlight hogs, the debates should be moderated by no-name political science professor from some obscure community college. I'm tired of "moderators" trying to be the star of the show.
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

I think Romney might have scored enough points in his "debate" with Obama to win the election if he had verbally bitch slapped Candy Crawly when she intervened and lied on Obama's behalf.

If he had the balls to do that in the first place, the election would have been a lot different outside the debates.

IMO, that sort of attitude is a lot of the reason Trump gained popularity.  He will probably end up being a pretty moderate President, but he won't be a wimpy moderate.
