Most startling of all were the undercover government informants that were revealed in the trial.  After weeks of wrangling and arguing with defense lawyers, the Justice Department finally stipulated that at least nine undercover informants were planted among the Refuge occupiers.  Thus, informants outnumbered the defendants on trial.   One informant was even a “bodyguard” for Ammon Bundy and drove him to his arrest.  Another informant admitted he trained occupiers in shooting and combat skills.

This probably is what got them acquitted.

After a week of deliberating over the evidence, the jury came back with its verdict yesterday afternoon, acquitting every defendant.  (Jurors said they were divided regarding an accusation that Ryan Bundy aided and abetted the theft of government property when he and others climbed utility poles and took down two of the government’s surveillance cameras.)
This is just funny.

Putting a little tinfoil on my head, it makes me wonder how many of the weird supply requests and other shenanigans that made the group look less than competent were initiated by the planted informants.

I think the  property was a tractor

If that's correct, did they actually haul it off somewhere, or were they just driving around on it at the site? If the latter, I guess you could still say they "stole" it (or the use of it), but it seems that would be a much more minor crime, if it actually is a theft related crime, than outright removing it from the property.

Wasn't this place like 100 miles out in the boonies?   I would think a stolen farm tractor would fairly easy to stop if it made a break for it.   (if nothing else, wait for it to run out of gas...)

The nitpicky details of what they did are irrelevant.  It was plainly and obviously a political protest that didn't kill anyone until the FBI shot.  I'm not surprised the jury found in favour of free speech
"Human existence being an hallucination containing in itself the secondary hallucinations of day and night (the latter an insanitary condition of the atmosphere due to accretions of black air) it ill becomes any man of sense to be concerned at the illusory approach of the supreme hallucination known as death."

Should be interesting if next jury is so nice

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Hey guys. Shaun King just summed it all up for us.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/king-white-privilege-sets-oregon-militia-members-free-article-1.2848847

It was just some more white privilege.

"My frustration, and the frustration of thousands of others, is that we all know good and well that if they were anything other than white that they would’ve likely had the book thrown at them. It’s for that very reason that you pretty much won’t see anyone other than white folk even do such a thing - it would be a suicide mission."

Just kinda glossing over they took over a log building part of a 290 square mile wilderness and one of the guys was shot dead (albeit while trying to run a road block).

I'm also irked at 'thrown the book at them.'  If the jury didn't free them, the judge probably would have 'thrown the book at them.'  Call up that SNL skit, this is more of a class unity opportunity than chance to make up some more racial division.

I can't believe they didn't get them on arson, looting, assault, blocking the freeways, etc. Oh, that was that other militia that's been doing that stuff. My mistake.

The actions of the feds in jumping and tazing the defendants lawyer when he was talking to the judge pretty well cements the correctness of the jurors actions.
It was a perfect microcosm of what the issue really is- overbearing arrogant government.

Putting a little tinfoil on my head, it makes me wonder how many of the weird supply requests and other shenanigans that made the group look less than competent were initiated by the planted informants.

That would be funny if it turned out that removal of the cameras had been instigated by the moles.

Even funnier if they took a vote and there were 9 for pulling down the surveillance cams.

I don't know.  That whole idea just tickled me.
