Press Misses Steak Dinner, Blames Trump
« on: November 16, 2016, 09:14:30 AM »
Just listening to the news and I'm hearing that the press pool is furious that Trump "ditched" them and had a private dinner with his family. They are crying "lack of transparency" before he's even sworn in. I guess it is pretty outrageous that they now don't know if he orders his steak medium rare or not.

I find this hilarious given the outgoing administration. Not to mention I seem to remember lots of time that they not only gave Obama his privacy, but talked about how great it was that he would spend time with his wife and family. MSNBC is apparently quite outraged about it all.

I heard about that on the radio and the excuse was "The Public needs to know where the President and President-elect are AT ALL TIMES, in case of an emergency!"

Um... no I don't. I honestly don't care where the President (or President-Elect) is, even during an emergency. So long as the SECRET SERVICE knows where he is, I'm not seeing a problem.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Twitchy has the Obama example. It was okay then though, because Obama was a very private man attempting to cope with public life. I love that the Internet is forever.

This is the same media that never shows video of Obama playing golf or basketball.  They at least couldn't hide how he throws a baseball.

AP was hysterical as well.

https://apnews.com/d428babc459043199fbed764a213c922/Trump-family-dinner-raises-issues-on-press-access

Notice the picture AP used . . . deliberately made Trump's son look demonic by not editing out the redeye from the flash.

Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Listened to Newt today laughingly speaking about The Press.  He said that they are used to the way things have been and that The Donald is something entirely different from the Establishment.  He further said that they have no idea of what to do or how to do it.  Point being that I took from Newt's comments is that they are completely flummoxed, Trump doesn't dance to the same ole drummer, so they have decided to become angry about it.  They are now trying to create the notion that his transition team is in disarray.  Newt said that is as far from true as you can get.  Trump is a hands on CEO and they are seriously addressing the issues they need to address using the critters he needs to do them.  He doesn't give a rat's behind about making the press happy.   It gets funnier every day.

If nothing else the next 4 years are going to be very entertaining.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Rush was talking a bit over the last few days about how some critters are getting nervous that Trump is going all Moderate or Reaching Across The Aisle.  Rush believes he's just laying in the weeds right now because he's not been immaculated yet.  So he's laid another trap for the Dems and the media.  He's being all buddy buddy because he's in a particular stage of the "negotiation" where he is preparing for hitting the ground running.  It's going to be interesting to see what happens after Jan 20.  Though I'm going to take a couple extra boxes of ammo with me if I have to fight my way home to Michigan in April.

NPR had a bunch of world known American reporters on yesterday talking about this. They all said it's going to be different and journalists are going to be extra cautious with truth in reporting and biasee.

With the rise of blogging, the social medium, etc; I think we may see a return to the days of each party having their dedicated press organs. That is to say, dedicated more than they are, already.

There wasn't much muck raking with regard to Obama. More like fawning advocacy. A little more truth and a bit less bias will be very refreshing.

I just hope Trump is strategically preparing for his first international balls-testing incident.  Given the antipathy from several nations antagonistic to the United States, I expect one heck of a brouhaha to arise from somewhere.

Maybe even multiple "somewheres."

Since the press has hyped him as "crazy" and the Euroweenies are practically soiling themselves over Trump, I get the impression that nobody will want to mess with him.

^ Probably true.  I suspect the next attack on a U.S. Embassy will be considered as an act of war.  Which it is anyhow.  Which ought to discourage such adventures.
