Man .... I used to love The Far Side.    I should check Amazon....there have to be collections of those old cartoons available.

There are. I have a bunch of them, though I need to look again myself as I got mine years ago and I'm sure there are more collections by now.

I consider it the ultimate fail for any book lover/media junkie to not have at least a few volumes of certain comic strips. The two most important, IMHO, are The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes.

Perhaps the best thing that Larson did was stop doing the strip while it was fresh and edgy. I loath comics that just grind along and the reader only follows it from habit.

I guess I should be proud that I understood "Cow Tools" even as a kid.

Seemed simple enough to me. Cows aren't very bright, no opposable thumbs, if cows made tools, they'd probably be lumpy weird things like the cartoon pictured.

I've also got some volumes of Zits, but the strip I have the most of is Mutts. Dad and I have appropriated more animal related insanity from that one source than any other source combined. If you've ever wondered why I will sometimes write "Yesh" instead of "Yes", blame Mutts.
