Dinosaur Feathers found trapped in amber

This is an extremely interesting article about the discovery of dinosaurs feathers trapped in amber. An example of how science still has much to learn, given that just 30 years ago, we were taught dinosaurs resembling modern lizards, not birds. Ought to be enough to keep people humble about what else we have to learn.

But, reading the comments, what I find instead (and most amusing) is that most of the WaPo commentators use it as a virtue signalling opportunity:

Your readers who believe the world is only 6,000 years old are going to call this part of the ''fake news'' that is going around. Wanna bet?

You do know it's all fake, them there scientists will say anything to get grant money. You should only read the bible and believe what Fox news tells you is true.

It's nice to see that the left seems to have learned a lot about respecting middle America since the election.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Ha! I always knew those dinosaurs were just a bunch of over-grown chickens.

No, but a high clearance vehicle with a stout front bumper is a recommended accessory.

As if people who believe the world is 6000 years old decided the election.

One of Trump's greatest feats is proving that you don't need to pay lip service to evangelicals to win a republican primary.  Their psychological hold nearly destroyed the party.  It's funny to see some trying to take credit now for Trump when he basically ignored all their junk issues.

There are actually people out there who think these fossils are fake because they don't fit with the bible.  The snark in the comments isn't based on a straw man.

That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

The same could be said for the GOP's free-market planks, couldn't it? And maybe a few other things? It's not as if Trump were a doctrinaire Republican, except for the whole religion thing, right?

Besides, isn't abortion among the issues on which Trump had a "change of heart," just like the gun issue? Or is abortion not what you're calling a "junk issue"? ("Junk issue" is a new one on me, so I don't know if that's supposed to include every so-con viewpoint, or what.)

The fake fossil contingent exists (or it once did), but the prominence that creation-deniers continue to give it is certainly a straw man. It's like dismissing every Trump supporter because of the birther issue.

On second thought, there are probably quite a few more extant birther hold-outs than fake-fossil proponents, even as a percentage of their respective cohorts, so...
