Problem with CBS' Innertube
« on: December 13, 2006, 04:35:25 PM »
Okay, so several of weeks ago I discovered that you can watch some of CBS' primetime shows online through their Innertube whatchamacallit.

I know I mentioned a couple of months ago that I don't watch TV, but since then after I found that you can watch some TV online I took a look-see at what's on the brain-rotting machine.

As I suspected, it's useless waste of time staring at what's available on the boob-tube.

However, I found that for some weird, irrational reason I kinda like the TV show NCIS (And Jericho too, until the wise guys at CBS decided to pause the series until spring.  angry)

Problem is, however, for the last two weeks CBS' player hasn't worked well for me. (Yeah, I know it's probably a sign that I shouldn't waste time watching it, but darn, I'm not giving it up! shocked  grin) After the first part of the show it goes into the commercial, and after the commercial is finished, instead of continuing with the show it keeps running through the same commercial over and over.

Has anyone else experienced that problem? Anything you did to fix it?

I only used it to watch Smith, but can't you click on the next part manually to watch it?  With Smith as an example, it would play a commercial, part one, a commercial, and then load part two, or you could just click on part 2.

What/Where would I click to get part two? I don't recall ever seeing that option anywhere. I don't recall ever seeing a place to chose individual parts of a show.

If it helps any, I'm using IE 7 with the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player, which I think is 9.

Oh, and BTW, Smith sucked. Tongue

Just checked for NCIS, and it's set up differently than Smith was.  You see where it says now playing part 1 of 5?  For Smith (when I watched it anyway) you could just click 2/5, 3/5, etc and it would skip to there.

Still, you might want to try clicking Player Settings and switching it.  I hate to recommend realplayer, but the windows media player setting won't let me skip ahead.  Everything works fine with Realplayer--to test I skipped ahead to the end of NCIS Driven Part 1, watched the commercial, and it went properly to Part 2.  I'm sure someone will be in very shortly to tell you to try Firefox anyway Smiley

I get nothing but troubles with firefox on Innertube.  I don't know why, but when I use IE it works fine.  I haven't watched anything on there in a while though.  I also use realplayer over windows media most the time.

They only paused it for the holidays, it returns in Jan.

I have 7 at my house.

I haven't checked it out in a while.  NCIS is one of the few shows that gets watched in our house.

Darn, I really wonder what is the problem. I upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 and RealPlayer 10, but neither had any effect on the problem.

I found that Innertube does not play well with my wireless connection.  All kinds of problems moving between program segments, multiple plays of commercials, and other things.
Once I went back to a wired network connection it works fine.

I'm on a wired network connection in our house.

Actually, it appears that Innertube works correctly again for me.
