McCain's gotta go

Okay, I get that he's on the Armed Services Committee. So I guess if he wants to go meet some of our troops overseas, that's understandable and allowable.

He should NOT be meeting with people in any country's government, though, and especially not in secret. Foreign relations are the purview and responsibility of the executive branch, not the legislative branch. He should be impeached.

I would just love to hear the left wing wailing in disbelief when it's McCain being impeached, and not President Trump.

The best part of that man was left in Vietnam.

He's a living icon for why term limits should be a thing.

This.

Yet Trump is some horrible ogre for calling McCain out on this...

McCain is a horrible person that's been in public office for far too long, but we don't dare touch him because  "veteran/POW" card

One could easily be convinced that America has become an Administrative State as several conservative thinkers have alluded to because of the lack of term limits.  Careerists in government pay more attention to gaining reelection and the accumulation of personal wealth than for the health of our nation due to abrogating their duty and handing it over to unelected bureaucrats and "departments".

Unless there was something else I'm not aware of, Trump was "a horrible ogre" for his egregious comment that disparaged all POWs; not because he was mean to McCain.

It's not just those seeking re-election.  If anything, a 1st termer going for his second is more focused on re-election than a 4th termer going for a 5th.  By that time the politician has re-election down to a routine.

It's the unelected, non-limited bureaucrats that we really have to worry about.  The people who write and push the regulations to implement the laws put forth by the elected officials.

Maybe all Federal government jobs should be filled by a draft, with a four year mandatory stint and an option to re-up once.

. . . McCain is a horrible person that's been in public office for far too long, but we don't dare touch him because  "veteran/POW" card . . .
You get to play that card ONCE . . . and as far as I'm concerned, he used it to stay out of the prison cell he so richly deserved  when he was one of the Keating Five.

Wasn't it William F. Buckley who said we'd be better served if the Congress were staffed by 535 people picked at random out of the phone book? Screen out foreigners, minors, and convicted felons, and maybe, just maybe, he was right.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.
