garyk, a company isn't responsible for the behavior of its customers.  It can be held responsible for the actions of its employees.

But can't it be argued the shooting would not have happened if they had put up a No Guns sign?  Of course, you and I know that's bunk, but it seems it could win over some juries.

A few years back, the county I worked for as a prosecutor instituted a "no weapons in the woprkplace" policy, and included in that policy provisions that any vehicle driven onto county property and any vehicle driven in the course of county business could never have a weapon in it, and could be searched at any time or any place, and refusal to consent to the search was grounds for dismissal.  After pointing out that this included every cruiser in the sheriff's department, the investigator vehicle's for our office, and the personal vehicle of every county law enforcement officer, they put in a law enforcement exception.  When someone brilliantly pointed out that this meant no county employee could go deer hunting using their own vehicle, the policy was cancelled, as the commissioners had a near riot on their hands when word spread about that angle.

Good to hear that Chris.  Let's hope the county learned its lesson permanently.

Chris, it also sounds like they could stop by your house and search your vehicle also.  Smiley

My company claims the search angle while on company property, but as fas as I know, they have never done it unless someone else reported that someone had a gun in their car.  Then the guilty party say "You search my car, you gotta search everyone" so they then search everyone.
