More unintended government consequences
« on: August 09, 2018, 12:53:57 PM »
Seems that Frank-Dodd, the Fed, and all the other .gov rules put in place after the financial crisis have caused MORE income inequality (not that is something that needs to "solved"), and have hurt the poor and middle class.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Gee, what a shocker. I've not yet seen one of these laws that wasn't easily circumvented by very wealthy people and their lawyers and CPAs. The people these laws always seem to hurt the most are the working stiffs that set money aside for investment.

Just like every time they talk about increasing the taxes for capital gains and dividends. The PR is that it's to "sock it to the Wall Street fat cats". The "fat cats" however, have the means for effective tax shelters. The average Joe not so much, so anyone in the middle class that tries to better themselves via investment of cash earned through hard work at their day jobs are the ones that get hit the hardest.

You are making the assumption that the outcome was unintended...
