Project Veritas Goes After Sen. McCaskill of Missouri

Project Veritas has posted undercover video of McCaskill and her aides. 

According to Mills, Senator McCaskill conceals her support of Moms Demand Action, a gun control group, and other similar organizations because they would “…hurt her ability to get elected.”

MILLS: “But she doesn’t openly go out and support groups like ‘Mom’s Demand Action’ or just like other groups that are related to that. Because that could hurt, her ability to get elected. Because people like see that and they’re like well I don’t want to support her even though they stand for the same policies…”

MILLS: “She’s worked out stuff with Mom’s Demand Action to make sure that she can support their goals without supporting the organization openly. And you know, Mom’s Demand Action does the exact same thing. Like a lot of our volunteers are actually from there. She’s really good about strategy and making sure she has a goal and can get there.”

And most of the Democrat base voting for them knows it and is counting on it.

On the other hand, most Republicans are generally hoping and praying that their elected officials AREN'T lying about their positions.

I think you are cherry picking your voter groups to make your point.  There are still people who imagine their Democrat representative is actually pro-gun.

Are those the base of the Democrat party, though? This is all about fooling the swing voters/tiny amount of remaining blue dogs.

Republicans, on the other hand, seem far more prone to try to fool the primary voters. (E.g. Mr. Flake who has lived up to his name so well.)

The liberal Democrats who expect McCaskill to lie to get elected don't represent ALL democrats and won't get her elected by themselves.  This doesn't mean she automatically loses, but it can't help. 

I am voting for Ted Cruz and he pretty much said he would do what he has been doing (Cornyn is another matter entirely).  I have no idea who the R is who is running against McCaskill in Missouri so this news doesn't by itself decide anything.  Right now I think even a bad Republican is better than a good Democrat if that exists in D.C.

The bigger picture is the Project Veritas has been rolling out these videos week by week.  And it is affecting the races (at least the polls) moving the needle(s) from D to R.

A few more of these (especially if they targeted some close House races) and we could see  a several seat gain in the Senate (IN, ND, MO, MT, WV look to be R pick-ups), FL, VA, and even *gasp* NJ are within the realm of possibility.  OH, PA, MI, and WI may also break R.

I haven't seen/heard the ads yet, but McCaskill is apparently running ads that say she's "not one of those crazy Democrats." Delicious lefty-whining ensues. 

Democratic Missouri state senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal was less coded.

“I want to know who these ‘crazy Democrats’ are,” Chappell-Nadal told TWS. “Is she talking about African Americans? Is she talking about the LGBT community? Is she talking about pro-choicers? Is she talking about the activists on the ground that have been responding to racial inequity? The question she needs to be asked and forced to answer is who are the crazy Democrats she’s talking about and relying on to vote for her in November. We deserve an answer.”

Chappell-Nadal has her own problems with McCaskill, notably that McCaskill called on her to resign her state senate seat after Chappell-Nadal expressed an interest in seeing Trump assassinated. But Chappall-Nadal also managed to describe McCaskill's election strategy succinctly:

“It’s like people hate her, but they hate her and are going to vote for her. But why do you have to vote for somebody who you hate? It just doesn’t make any sense,” Chappelle-Nadal said. “We shouldn’t have to force down vomit to vote for someone.”
