COVID-19 panic effects on severe weather season prep
« on: March 16, 2020, 04:14:43 PM »
Coming into tornado season so SWMBO and I want to put 3-5 days of nonperishable provisions and water in the basement. I figured I could hop on Amazon and get a couple of the 3-day emergency ration bar packs. Wrong. Everything is back ordered. Ev...ry...thiiiiiiing.

Ultimately we decided to go with Gatorade Recovery Bars. Not the greatest thing ever, but they have sufficient protein, aren't too heavy on the sodium, and are shelf stable for at least a couple months. More importantly, they're in stock both locally and on Amazon. We figure 36 bars is plenty for the time frame involved. It's also something that won't go to waste because we can use them up as occasional on-the-go meal replacements once severe weather season ends.

What are you going to store your water in?

Basic gallon plastic jugs. Tornado season lasts roughly 3 months. After that, we'll use up what we stored and resupply next year.
