Network's fraudulent use of automatic weapon footage?
« on: July 15, 2020, 11:38:56 PM »
Wasn't there a TV news report several years ago, about semi-automatic weapons, but they used footage of an automatic? Was it one incident, or several? Anyone remember?

ABC recently used video of the Knob Creek machine-gun shoot in a piece about Syria.  Is that it?

No, but that's what I come up with when I internet-google-search-bing various terms.

I don't recall seeing the report myself. I just seem to recall hearing about it on gun boards a lot.

Yes, there was one but I can't remember where and when it ran. Was it that clip about the so-called "expert" military veteran who did the piece on "fully semi-automatic" AR-15s?

I think it was before that.

When Bill Clinton was pushing his so-called Assault Weapon Ban, Tom Brokaw of NBC did the voice over about restricting semi-automatic weapons while video ran of full auto machine guns being fired.

Numerous complaints were written to the network by both individuals and the NRA pointing out the footage of fully automatic weapons being fired while discussing a proposed ban on SEMI automatic weapons was misleading, to which the network replied that it wasn't really meant to misinform. The network did NOT issue a correction.

And then a couple of weeks later, Brokaw did a similar voice over about banning semi automatic weapons while NEW footage of machine guns being fired ran.

It seems like I've seen one in the last few months but I can't find it. Maybe they got enough crap over it they disappeared it.

When the news invents things... on purpose...

Wasn't it NBC that got into one hell of a lot of hot water in the 1990s when they rigged a pick up truck with an explosive device to "show" how easily that pickup design would burst into flames when rear ended...

After repeatedly failing to get the trucks they were using to do so?

My fully semi-automatic AR-15 has the full-bore auto-lock double cartridge thorough gauge tuning kit that allows it to fire armor-piercing hollow-points.

First time that I recall the media doing that was after the Stockton, CA mass shooting in 1989.

Is that the kind that uses the 100 bullet clip that allows you to kill thousands of people without reloading?

Yep
They're also the ones that edited the Zimmerman police audio recordings to fit a certain narrative.
ABC IIRC edited the photos to make it appear Zimmerman wasn't injured

And they only got in trouble because the target of their disinformation had pockets deep enough to hurt them.

I think that's probably what I'm thinking of. If it's from the mid-90s, that would explain why the video is not so easy to find.

I remember seeing this a number of times in the 90s and again near the sunset of the AWB, but like you I haven’t been able to find recorded examples easily.

You never go fully semi automatic
