<rant>
I am very much afraid that the term "science" has been blurrred by the intrusion of "commercial science," where any point can be proven or disproven by selection or rejection of particular data for one specious "reason" or another to support the preconceptions of the scientific grantor.
"Oh,what do they know? One week lard will kill us all, the next week we can't get enough of it." (Paraquote of Sheldon's mother on using lard to make breakfast.)
Nowadays "The science is settled" seems to mean more "research" dollars have been thrown at one side of an issue than the other.
I cringe when I see "studies show." My first question is who gave the grant money for those studies.
"Academy," Heh. I guess anyone can set up an "academy."
