Alcohol Consumption Per Capita by World Region
« on: November 12, 2021, 06:22:29 PM »
I can't believe my beer drinking krauts didn't make the list.

The Cook Islands at #1 was surprising to me. The US was at #35.

Cook Islands?  Why there?  They have to import everything, including alcohol, so why is their consumption so high?

I wonder if tourism is a factor.

Looks like people consume more if they can afford more. Shocking.

Then again, maybe it has more to do with how much time people have to just hang around, drinking.
Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God?

In America, more than ever, since nobody much wants to work.

I was about to ask, then I saw the answer:  "Liters  of pure alcohol," per capita.

A testament to the durability and efficiency of the human liver, I guess.

Cook Islands? Probably tourism, as mentioned.

Quote
After Rarotonga, Aitutaki is our second most visited island in the Cook Islands. Secluded and romantic, it holds a compelling allure for honeymooners, many of whom choose this haven for the duration of their stay. You can look forward to languid, leisurely days simply reveling in each other’s company and the jaw-dropping surroundings. Work on your suntan lazing under a coconut palm, relax with a massage or explore the island by cycle or motor-scooter.

That explains a lot.
