Songwriter dies in LA after a long illness.

The Band's music probably had more impact on me than any other.  Despite Levon Helms' admonishments, Robbie Robertson was among the best songwriters of the 20th century.

This makes me sad. His album "Music for the Native Americans" was my favorite. I listened to it almost exclusively for months when it came out.

RIP Robbie Robertson.

I think that the only Band member still alive is Garth, who probably was the best musician. And I understand that he's broke.

Levon was not only a good writer (many of their songs are southern references, and... gee... he was the southern boy...) and musician, but a pretty decent actor.
