Received three e-mails about purchased Amazon gift cards
« on: October 01, 2023, 12:55:03 PM »
Received three e-mails this morning thanking me for my purchases of Amazon gift cards for Google Play, Hotels.com and Mastercard.
Checked my account and no gift card activity, hmmm. Forwarded the e-mails off to Amazon's fraud dept but haven't received a reply yet. But in the meantime  just came across this thread on Reddit and turns out a bunch of people got these e-mails and they actually are from Amazon.

I just got off the phone with a rep because I also received 3 emails regarding purchased Google Play, Hotels.com, and Mastercard gift cards.

Basically she told me they were poorly worded emails intended to warn customers about potential scams. Not in relation to any actual purchases made. They're being flooded with calls over it lol

Yeah, poorly worded all right, they actually thank you for the purchase of the gift cards.
So just in case you got these e-mails now you know Amazon F'ed up

I would hate to be working at Amazon CS right now.
