The demonstrated pistol is a SA .357 Magnum.  Rimmed cartridges don't do well in a stacked magazine, particularly when it comes to feeding the chamber.

I thought the rimmed feeding "problem" has long been solved by proper design, from .22s to .303 British and 7.62x54R.  In addition, many semiauto pistols have been chambered in .38 SPL, etc.

Showing a quickie view of the patent diagrams didn't do the trick for me.  What is the unique operating principle, if any?  Is it just that since the barrel is low, it reduces "felt recoil"?  There have been a number of revolvers with low barrels to "reduce" recoil.

I have a Coonan 357.  Mine works pretty well.  The rounds are stacked at an angle similar to a Ruger Mark II magazine.

That reminds me that I need get more 357 ammo at some point.

IIRC, the Chiappa Rhino also has the barrel on the lower side and for the same reason - felt recoil.

Yes, and thanks.  I couldn't remember the name of that revolvolator so I coudn't cite it exactly. I kept thinking "Elephant Chopper" but knew that was wrong.

The few Coonans I've seen on the range seemed to run well. The S&W M-52 fed .38 wadcutters OK, though I remember the magazine holding only 5 rounds. Colt made some .38 Specials on the 1911 platform as well. And of course all rimfire pistols use rimmed rounds, as do a number of rifles.

So as far as using rimmed rounds is concerned, this Wildebeest pistol really isn't really gnu.

Yes, thanks for confirming my remarks.
