I thought the rimmed feeding "problem" has long been solved by proper design, from .22s to .303 British and 7.62x54R. In addition, many semiauto pistols have been chambered in .38 SPL, etc.
Showing a quickie view of the patent diagrams didn't do the trick for me. What is the unique operating principle, if any? Is it just that since the barrel is low, it reduces "felt recoil"? There have been a number of revolvers with low barrels to "reduce" recoil.
