Zuckerberg apologizes for installing Biden
« on: August 27, 2024, 10:06:19 AM »
Quote
Zuckerberg said senior Biden administration officials "repeatedly pressured" Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to "censor" content in 2021. "I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken," he wrote to House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). "Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction -- and we're ready to push back if something like this happens again," Zuckerberg added.

The Meta CEO also said the company "shouldn't have demoted" a New York Post story about corruption allegations involving President Biden's family ahead of the 2020 election while waiting for fact-checkers to review it.

Quote
Zuckerberg also said in Monday's letter that he does not plan to make contributions to local jurisdictions to support election infrastructure this cycle, like he did during the 2020 election.

Remember when saying that big tech was influencing the election by burying relevant stories was a conspiracy theory that spreading would, in full-circle irony, would get you banned? And remember when people found out that Zuck spent a billion dollars on strategic counties? Or maybe not because they buried that story?

Enough time has passed that we can acknowledge these things and pretend it was always thus.

No matter how much you hate the media, they prove over and over again that it's not enough.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I mentioned this in the "2024" thread, and said that if it weren't for Elon Musk, we would be in a world of disinformation and censorship *expletive deleted*it. X is the only free speech zone in all of big tech social media. Just think what we'd be seeing (or not seeing because they know better) as "truth" if X were still twitter.

Wasn't he brought before Congress and testified under oath that this wasn't happening, when everyone knew that it was?

If you lie to a liar who knows you're lying is it still a lie?

Mudd at least looked human.  Zuckerberg looks like a android.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Yeah.  Brent Spiner did that sallow, pasty-faced look quite well.
