Indycar practice

Did a factory tour of Bryant in Indianapolis, they make furnaces.

Also included was pit and garage passes for Indy practice.  I was a guest of Andretti Green Racing.

I don't follow Indy, I didn't realize there were three woman drivers in the series now. Two of them drive for Andretti Green Racing.

The three woman drivers are Danica Patrick, somewhat of a media sensation as well as being competitive, a rookie in Indy from Venezuela Milka Duno and Sarah Fisher.

None of my action shots turned out well but here are some from the garage and pit lane.

Ron, that's really cool.  Great pics.  Did you get to talk to any of the Andretti Green people?

Nothing very in depth, just chit chat with guys in the garage. None of the drivers made themselves available. There was rain all morning into the afternoon. Then it became pretty warm and muggy. The guys in the garage were very bored waiting for the rain to end.

Notice the camber and tire wear on Milka's front tires?

Danica Patrick's a pretty good little shoe.  She seems to do better when traffic's not too close to her, though.  She's sorta bluffable.  But she can indeed drive.  Back when she was still in Formula Atlantic, I saw her put a move on a guy to take the lead that must have had him talking to himself.  One of those downtown street races with all those concrete car-breakers.

Here is Danica's car before it hit the track. You can't miss the camber from this angle.

Thanks for the pics.  I used to work at the track in the 80s as a kid growing up.

I worked as a stockboy in the basement of the museum.  Stocked the gift shops with shot glasses and t-shirts.  Rough work in May (14 hour days on weekends) but rest of year was O.K..  Cool job, I got to be around all the old cars that Tony had stashed in the basement.  He would rotate them in and out between there and his warehouse in Terre Haute.

One cool perk, when I was 16 I did get drive my 1965 Pontiac LeMans convertible around the track.  I think I broke 100 on the straightaways. grin
I do not smoke pot, wear Wookie suits, live in my mom's basement, collect unemployment checks or eat Cheetoes, therefore I am not a Ron Paul voter.
