I-Tunes question
« on: June 18, 2007, 01:18:05 PM »
I downloaded a bunch of songs from I-Tunes last night and can't get them to play on a CD. The last time I downloaded anything from I-Tunes I was able to burn the music to a CD to play in the car. I don't have a I-Pod but I have a cheapie MP3 player- Itunes music doesn't work with it.

It seems that I-Tunes music is protected by something or other. Is there anything I can do with the the downloaded songs now other than play them on my computer or get an I-pod?

i-Tunes will let you make a standard audio CD. You can then rip that CD using Windows media player or whatever and then play the mpgs anywhere. The only hassle is that you have to manually enter song/artist data. This is the only method I know of to defeat the i-Tunes commie protection.

look in the preferences tab under "Advanced"

there are settings for burning

some options are to burn either an audio CD, a data CD or an MP3 CD

fwiw, with Napster, an audio cd made through the program can be ripped just like a regular audio CD.

It took me a little while to figure it out, too. You have to put the music you want to burn onto a playlist first, and then you can burn the playlist to disc.

I would help you but it beats me!
I've burned a few discs successfully with Itunes but can't remember how its done.

You just create a playlist, right mouse all up on it, and mash "go" on the option that concerns the burning of discs.

I have been using a freeware program called cdex to rip CD's for a while now.  At least with new CD's, it downloads the song data.
