get some figs too!
I've been a long time fan of figs (fresh, dried, in newtons, as preserves, etc). If a collegue of mine ever follows through with his offer, I'll have some fig plants of my own. I was under the impression they don't grow well around here, but he figured out how to winterize them and has several large fig bushes in his yard.
No, those are dried. Fresh dates are green and look like star fruit or something in their perishability.
Ok, then I've never seen fresh dates. Dried is quite fine by me though. BTW, what's the texture of a fresh date like?
stuff your dates with peanut butter. Some go as far as including a walnut stuck in the pb and the whole thing rolled in sugar. But I don't want to be ruining all the healthiness going on.
Oh man, I LOVE peanut butter. Walnuts too. I can do without the extra sugar though.
I'm going for a long ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway tomorrow. I may take a half pound of dried dates and a peanut butter (whole wheat) sandwhich to munch on at some scenic overlook.
