Biggest Greece fire ever...

Anyone got a really, really big pan lid?
Seriously, though, a dozen
new
fires today, they said? Someone must be setting these. I'm starting to wonder at some form of terrorism, even.

I believe Greek authorities are already looking in that direction. Of course, they still have beef with the Turks, don't they? Or would that be lamb?

According to a British ex-pat I heard interviewed on the radio the suspicion is that they are linked to developers. Apparently forestry land is no-go for development in Greece, but land with burned out trees is no longer classed as forestry land.

Yes, I think that Iain has heard the same as I have. The Greeks suspect property developers, and the terrorism part you lot may have been hearing about is down to the Greek authorities considering trying those caught as terrorists. I can kind of understand that, as this is a huge, huge problem for Greece. Many people have died, and great swathes of forest have been lost.

I've always wondered what would happen if Al Queda or whomever figure out how easy it would be to light the entire western half of the U.S. on fire...

They shouldn't even be in the country to have the opportunity. But our 'leadership' is more interested in corporatist globalism than national security and enforcing immigration law.

What a great reason to invade/attack, even nuke another middle eastern/asian country!

Or perfect the balloon drop that the Japenese attempted in WWII.
