Why does a wife beater (a-shirt?) help with CCW? So it isn't rubbing your skin all day? Tongue

Both sorts of undershirts have their purpose.

T-undershirts are great when worn under polos, button-downs, and heavier sorts of shirts.  Suck up sweat all over, prevent chafing from IWB holsters, bits of the heater that may not be covered by the holster, and your mag & mag carrier.

A-shirts are great when you want to CCW under an untucked T-shirt.  They serve a similar purpose as the T-undershirt, but are used when you don't want the undershirt visible.BTW, the untucked T-shirt is best made of heavier material, a darker color, and perhaps a pattern.

Another use for the A-shirt is when you CCW IWB commando--no undershorts.  Make sure you buy the A-shirt extra-long.  The Wal-mart FotL A-shirts have an unhemmed bottom and are longer than similarly-sized A-shirts from Hanes, etc.  The A-shirt then prevents chafing up high as well as down low, where your undershorts would be.

I thought "wife beaters" were the sleeveless T-shirts. A-shirts are more like tank tops.....

http://www.fruit.com/mens_boys.shtml?5P2727 T-shirt (white)
http://www.fruit.com/mens_boys.shtml?2P2701 T-shirt (black and grey)
http://www.fruit.com/mens_boys.shtml?5P2525V V-neck

http://www.fruit.com/mens_boys.shtml?2P2601 A-shirt (black and grey)
http://www.fruit.com/mens_boys.shtml?2F3801 Muscle shirt

A muscle shirt is essentially a sleeveless t-shirt. It covers the entire torso, whereas an a-shirt has a low front and back neckline. (I think.)

I think T and A correspond to the shape the shirt resembles when laid out flat. The T has the sleeves to form the upper horizontal dash. A's are sleeveless, so they appear tapered at the top.

If you must know, I am a boxer man and like T-shirts as undergarment but A-shirts for exercise.

Not that it's an infallible guide, but pop culture says NO.  Or just look up "wife beater" on Google Image Search.

Nor is the A-shirt a "slightly dressier wife-beater."  Wife-beater's just a slang term for an A-shirt.

I think of them as being made of different material. Wife-beaters are ribbed cotton, a-shirts are smooth.

To each their own, right?

And wait: I thought a-shirts and "wife beaters" were the same thing. A-shirts are ribbed cotton, yes? Muscle shirts are the smooth cotton, if I'm remembering correctly.

No.

WAY back when, he changed his name to Scapegoat for a while, sort of a self pity thing.  Well, it stuck.

Random searches of his name will show that roughly once a week or so, he gets blamed for something.

No reason, it's just, well, his job.
