Those lowlife westboro cultist are coming to picket the funeral
of Brianna Denison
If you don't know who she is google her name, she was by all accounts a really nice young lady whose chosen career was helping children.
She was sexually assaulted and strangled by some skell.

All Reno folks that pay attention have been moved by this senseless attack and murder.
Her family, despite the intense grief that they must be feeling told the press that "other young women were victims too, lets not forget them"
I am struck by how they can reach out to help others when they must be in unbelievable emotional pain.

The westboro skells are going to protest her funeral and I'm pretty angry about it.

Are throwing water balloons, pies and eggs covered under the 1st amendment?

Wasn't there a group of pie throwers in the seventies?
Didn't they win in court with 1st amendment arguments?
I doubt any Reno Jury will side with westboro.

Attention, APS members:

Phelps' God hates people who died in military service. Now, he hates girls who get raped. Since he hates so many good things, I think we are quickly reaching a point where I can no longer justify not being personally hated by Phelps' God, and I doubt the rest of you can, either. Most of us (other than CAnnoneer) are not willing to go the San Francisco route to incur this wrath. Nor can we be sure of getting smitten by a holy IED, should we enlist.

So, APS, what do we do to make them hate us?

I imagine they already hate us. Some people here are liberals, check, some are gay, check, I think there's a guy from Sweden, check, most of us are Americans, check, many of us (not me) served in the military, check.

I have a feeling it might get ugly, she was a native Reno, Nevadan and folks here will fight over stuff like this.
I've seen cops wait for a while before breaking up brawls on the street.
Bouncers will kick your but and get away with it.

WBC is interrupting their right to peaceably assemble and grieve and
the crowd may not be educated enough to understand the finer nuances
of WBC rights to protest, and give them the stomping they well deserve.

I am leaving my guns at home so I can join the fun!

They have not caught a suspect and people are real angry, a women I know who has previously been kind of liberal non violent type now wants me to teach her to shoot and help her find a gun.

Well, the WBC cult wanted to come down to Augusta and protest one of the Va. Tech. victim's funerals. The cops kind of let it be known that police response would be delayed they showed up to protest.

They didn't show.

I think they're looking for more people to sue. What _oughta_ happen is the cops take off for a Large Incident (like maybe a donut shop robbery), and a dozen or so guys with masks and softball bats get a little swing practice.

That has me puzzled too. Military personnel are there by choice. The rape/murder victim... all the usual self defense issues aside... didn't get out of bed that morning hoping to be attacked.
