So who else here is happy that Peter Jennings is dead?
« on: August 08, 2005, 07:03:26 AM »
I, for one, hated the man ... nothing chaps my hide worse then being condescended to by an effete Canadian high school drop out who thinks he's more enlightened then the Barbaric Americans he's forced to live among.

Eff him and good riddance ... and he can shove "Hurricane Eduard (that's French for Edward)" up his poop shoot sideways!

Couldn't you have just said that you read his obituary with a certain amount of satisfaction?

I didn't care for his condescension nor his politics.  I wouldn't wish cancer on him or anyone I dislike.  That's just me though.

While I do not mourn his passing, I am not "happy" that he is dead.

I'll reserve my joy for the deaths of people who are much more worthy, like OBL.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
I meet lots of folks like this, claim to be anarchist but really they're just liberals with pierced genitals. - gunsmith

I understand that its considered bad form to badmouth the dead (especially so soon after their death) but Jennings was the kind of liberal media elite that would be thrilled if most of us here (gun owners, Republicans, Libertarians, libertarians, conservatives, Christians, etc) where rounded up and put in death camps.

The world is a better place with him as worm food.

Maybe its rude for me to indulge in such schaddenfreude but I can't help but think he had the same feeling the day Reagan died ... and if he knew me he'd probably hate me as much as I hate him.

What Sergeant Bob said.

I won't go out of my way to dance on his grave, nor will I send flowers to the funeral.

If nothing else, unlike most of the current crop of talking heads, he actually spent a good deal of time out in the world reporting on things.

I always had great respect for Peter Jennings, somethings I agreed with him somethings I did not.  Typical human being but well educated, which isn't typical.

Oh c'mon guys.  We're better than that.  I saw protesters holding signs with truly vitriolic language that should never, ever be said at somebody's funeral when Reagan died.  We're approaching that level now.  Sinking to that level makes us the same as those people.

We're better than that.

I don't know where people come up with these ideas.  I suppose some could say that I'd be happy if all gays, liberals, non-christians, druggies, and homeless were all rounded up and exterminated, just because I am not real supportive of any of those group, but I sure would not be happy at all.  I'd be downright angry and scared.

I disagreed with his politics.  That doesn't mean I would wish him dead or take any pleasure in his death.  By saying these things you remind me that not everyone who is on "my side" is a decent human being.   You remind me of someone else I know who gloated over Reagan's alzheimers and his eventual death.

Peter Jennings sounded like a very intelligent man.  He was a High School drop out.  Just like so many other people who become famous.  At first they said he had been married five times, then they changed it to four times.  I am sure his children are grieving and I hope they are not smokers.  He lied when he said he gave up smoking many years ago and started to smoke again after 911.  He has indeed been smoking all along.  I have seen him at NRA conventions and he has always been smoking at these events.  He was not kind to the gun manufacturers or owners.  The times I saw him he seemed to be a very bitter man.  But like the others I am sorry he has died.  Although I never watched him on TV.

The ultimate goal of the left is slavery and death.

Jennings was a facilitator, spokesman and champion of the left.

Y'all do the math.

There is a battle going in in this world for our future ... a battle that I fear will turn into a shooting war before my time is done on this earth.

I have picked sides and believe the time of polite disagreement between political factions is over and it was ended by Jennings and his fellow leftists over 30 years ago.

The ultimate goal of the left is slavery and death.
And the ultimate goal of the right is a church state.

Surely, you can see the difference between a complete nutcase on the left, and 99.9999% of the rest.  Just because someone is against you, doesn't mean that tehy want you tortured and killed in the most inhumane way possible.  It means that you are disagreeing on a point, and thankfully you live somewhere where you can disagree.

Posts like this make me think the Left is correct in painting gun enthusiasts as right-wing nut jobs.  I am saddened to be reading this on this forum.

No kidding ,Rabbi.  I wouldn't gloat about the death of my worst enemy, much less the death of someone I didn't really know personally (and who really didn't affect my life THAT much, as someone mentioned before, one could just change the channel. )

Fine, for the sake of decorum I won't publicly celebrate Mr. Jennings' death here in these forums.

His untimely end is about 20 years or so too late, the damage he caused probably won't be undone.

I can't wait till people wish death on people for being active in their poltical persuasion die.

Yes, I know being happy when someone dies is different from wishing death upon them. But it's a slippery slope.
