I wonder how long after it goes on sale will it take for someone to put a motion sensor on it and make a sentry turret?

30 seconds...........
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

The turret and tracking mechanisms are already built, they'll use the ones they've built for their airsoft.  The only work remaining is to figure out how to secure the gun.

*sigh*

Abby MUST have one.

And it's only $40!  smiley

Best to buy 5-10, use the ammo from all, and reserve the extra launchers for replacement parts.  cheesy

You can buy packages of extra Nerf darts on their own.  Like 30 per pack, or something, I think.  We needed to, in order to restock the air-powered full-auto Nerf-type gun the boy has, a couple of years ago.  You can't get that gun anymore  sad.

Not saying there's anything WRONG with buying 5-10 of these wonderful, glorious Nerfy-goodness toys, mind you...

Yup.

That would be a tangent sight, aka elevator sight. They often have vernier scales for elevation.

Contrast that with tang sights, which mount on the receiver tang, near the wrist.  You can have a tang-mounted tangent sight, like my 1874 Sharps Business Rifle, just to make things more confusing. Tangent sights don't always mount on the tang, though.  Many are found mounted on the barrel just in front of the receiver.  An example would be the rear ladder/tangent as found on my 1903A1 Springfield.

The Nerf will need a lot of tangent sight elevation to score hits way out there with those foam dart trajectories.   grin

I wonder if the belts can be made longer, and slung over one's shoulder or arm, ala' Rambo?

Hrmmmm. I currently work in the Command Center of a moderately large call center; a large raised circular area in the center of the floor. My personal station is facing directly at the primary entry point for our floor. I recently got reprimanded for not having enough 'stress relieving devices' (toys) at my station.

I guess I have no choice but to follow the demands of the management. Any idea when this thing goes on sale?

Nerf Vulcan -- Hokey Smokes!
« Reply #37 on: December 06, 2008, 11:24:52 AM »
I remember there was a thread here a while back about the Nerf Vulcan coming out. When I saw it I remember thinking, "I'm down with that". So I just saw an ad that reminded me about it and thought I would get it for a Christmas present to myself (yes, I'm 12 years old). So I go shopping for it and it's going from $90-$120 for a $40 toy!!! Must be the hot item for Christmas this year. Guess I'm gonna have to make it a late present and get it after New Years.  =(

Wha?

They have them in stock at Target. I just passed by them yesterday, $39.

They've got the EyeClops night vision for $50 too, if any people kids want to try being all Sam Fisher and walk into a wall.

Actually, it fires with sufficient velocity that it could actually cause a nasty bruise, or bad eye damage. Plus that many small flying objects hitting the cat would be severely traumatizing and terrify the poor cat. That's not so funny.

Target eh? I may have to take a road trip (no Target-like stores where I live).

I don't know about cats, but I'll be doing a Nerf power mod after I get it and it's gonna remain sitting at my desk and pointed at my office door.

Sorry...didn't know it had that much power behind it.....

...we'll just use it on really BIG cats, then....  =D

Threads merged.

I bought one of the Nerf Vulcans in October, for my nephew's Christmas present.  They don't have cats, but their golden retriever will love it.   =D

Target, WalMart, Toys 'R Us, they're available everywhere, as are extra belt links and darts.

Out of stock, out of stock, out of stock. There was one on Amazon last night for $45. In the time it took me to put it in my cart and hit "buy" the website gave me an "unknown error". When I went back to the search page, it was gone, replaced by a $84 one. Today the cheapest at Amazon is $95.

If one shows up at the ~$40 range again I'll get one now, else after the holidays will work too.

But is that a RAIL on top, there?

If that's the dimension of a standard rail...Streamlight? Laser?

The rail is nonstandard. It can be modified so that you can use Picatinny rail compatible mounts, but it won't work with LaRue and other throw lever style mounts. (Yep, I've tried.) Clamp style mounts will work well enough. The drop rate of the darts is way too fast to use any sights other than a tangent sight though. (Tried that too. A ML3 just doesn't have enough adjustability for this...)
