Hmm, I need to dig out my Blue Sun t-shirt and strike my best pose for the APS girls...
That would be very nice of you.

I had to go with Kaylee, though I wouldn't kick Inara out of bed!

I would only because there is more room on the floor.

Hmm, after a search revealed nothing, I remembered that I gave my Blue Sun t-shirt to my friend.  Now I need to do another iron-on.  Grumble.

I think I'd make a pretty good Jayne.  My friends and I have expressed a desire to go to a convention as Serenity crewmembers, but since my costume would have been the cheapest I was the only one stay serious about it.  That, plus there's not really any definitive costume that screams "I'm Wash" if you don't actually look like Alan Tudyk.

My friend priced out doing a proper Mal costume, and quickly went over $300.

whoops, nandi not mandi. my bad, anyway...

Heart Of Gold nandi owned the whorehouse and needed help, which mal and crew did for free (well, jayne worked for trade). she was a compainion that had been friends with inara and left the training house in disgrace.

Inara: "It sounds like the sort of thing this crew can handle. I can't guarantee they'll handle it particularly well, but-"
Nandi: "If they got guns, and brains at all..."
Inara: "They have guns."

Oh, her.  I'm surprised she was mentioned at all.  I just watched that episode again.  She looked like a drag queen and said cheesy things like "I want you to bed me, Malcom."  Tongue

I'm the one who mentioned her, and it was her determination I liked. She may have been a madam, but it was her house. They may have been prostitutes, but they were her people. She'd rather stay and fight than let some jerk run her off. Also, she had her own guns.

Then again, maybe I like her because I've hung around drag queens who say things that would probably make you blush.  smiley

Ah, shucks, I was gonna ask LadySmith if Nandi was her kind of stupid.  Nuts.

But, yeah, aside from hiring girls out to service scummy robber barons, she was a real feminist icon.  Or not.

I didn't.  sad In penance, I will watch the entire series + the movie again this weekend and attempt to do so from a feminist perspective.
If I come back in a testicle-stomping mood, it will be Fistful's fault (as usual).  grin

That's not a good price for Amazon.  Every month or so they change the price for a few weeks.  I've seen it as low as $19.99 and as high as $39.99.

So...you watch "Firefly" for feminist icons? Huh?

I don't think I really need to explain this, but it's just that she's being lauded for being "tough" and for saying stuff like "I won't let any man take what's mine."  Like Mal, I have a certain amount of respect for that, and for her gun collection.   smiley

But the fact is, she's a prostitute and/or madam.  Do I really need to draw you a diagram of the irony there?  If so, we could start another thread.

I voted Kaylee, Cheesy She doesn't need to wear fancy cloths or to splash on makeup to look good.
