I did this thing in about ten minutes in Photoshop for a project, too...vintage is fun. (original is huge, and white background, meant to be printed on parchment, then soaked in tea.)

On that first one, not to pick, but they ought to have distorted the letters to follow the paper wrinkles. The letters are not broken where the paper is crumpled. smiley

It was for a girl who likes Firefly and found-paper ephemera. She liked it a lot.

Tell me how that's geeky. grin

Here it is briefly as part of a tableau, with some matching other props from Illustrator and my Taurus Judge.

About a year ago someone was selling a very limited set of Serenity blueprints.  You could also view them online, and they were fantastic.

I really wanted them, and I might have popped for the $100, except that I had earlier spent $50 for maps of the Firefly 'verse and monetary notes, and they were both a big disappointment.  I felt like I had to draw the line on expense somewhere.

Ok all this retro poster talk made me break down and watch the show for the first time...

It takes a bit of getting used to, but I like it.  I watched 2 episodes on scifi the other day.  And today I have been watching the rest on www.Hulu.com Its a really good quality video only like 2-3 15 second commercials.

I can't believe i was reluctant to watch it for so long.

I never even knew about it when it was on. A guy from work, uh, "arranged for me to get a copy" of the first three episodes, and I really enjoyed it. I thought the soundtrack was excellent. I'm now waiting for him to make the "arrangements" to get the rest of the series...as soon as he's done "reviewing" my complete "Get Smart" series. angel

Not to sound all righteous or anything, but it really IS worth the $40 to buy the box set.  You won't be disappointed, if you've liked what you've seen so far.  Support your favorite production staff (writers/actors/directors), or they won't be working anymore, and all that.  I'll pay for NEARLY anything Joss Whedon had a significant hand in, 'cause he's just that good.

Pick up a copy of 'Serenity' as well, if you haven't yet.  My fiancee saw that first (when she was still my girlfriend) with me, loved it, and went back and watched my 'Firefly' DVDs.  She said she liked 'Serenity' a little better, but still liked 'Firefly' a lot.

You can get it from Amazon for $25 right now.

Y'all DO realize it's being aired frequently in HD on the UniversalHD network?  That totally rocks.

Y'all DO realize it's being aired frequently in highly compressed and grainy pseudoHD on the UniversalHD network?  That totally rocks.

FTFY for any Comcast customers.

You would need a highly modified and prop-redressed Saiga 12, too.

Ditto. It's great, and now I can join the masses of pissed off folks that there's no more than 14 episodes and a movie.  angry

It's not out on Blu-Ray yet. If it's on Universal HD, it's far higher quality, but Comcast's compression turns HD into suck.

Serenity is still not on Blu-Ray, as far as I know. Just HD-DVD. Which is a shame. The first bit, Serenity's planetary re-entry, when you first get sound as the engines ignite and the air incandescences around the ship (GORGEOUS scene) looks incredible in HD.
