Was he trying to steal the copper, or wizz on it?  Or something else?  Or did the juice blast him right out of his pants?

But at least his death was a swift one.

Looks like he was trying to cut it. The pants were just plain old burned off, just like the shirt.

Aren't a lot of those main transmission lines aluminum?

I think that they are...

I guess he didn't know about current findings - cutting off live electrical wires can prove to be a shocking experience laugh.

I do believe so.

Photos like these make me extremely glad I don't work for the power company. That's sick.

Not sure if those main lines are aluminum, but aluminum armored cables are not uncommon.  I recall that one of our plants had them.  Came in handy when liquid oxygen got dumped on some 4160 V cables.  Smiley

I guess these days they could do a little cost/benefit on electrical losses versus cost of copper.  Perhaps weight and allowable length of span might be in there as well.  I don't know all the properties off hand.

They are strands of aluminum wire surrounding a steel core that takes the structural loads, and a small amount of the electrical load.

Well, it figures there's probably someone out there with a fetish for toasted bits.

Of course, there's probably also someone out there with a fetish for tree-climbing goats, so it doesn't follow.
