DENVER Last week, Republican John McCain didn't know how many homes he owns.

Tonight, Democrat Barack Obama didn't know what town he was in.

In a live satellite speech tonight to the Democratic National Convention in Denver from a home in Kansas City, Obama said: "I'm here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis."

Then came a graphic across the television screen that said Obama was in Kansas City, Mo.

Then 7-year-old Sasha Obama asked: "Daddy, what city are you in?"

"I'm in Kansas City, sweetie," Obama said, correcting his earlier geographic reference.

Obama was at the home in Kansas City tonight to watch his wife Michelle's keynote address, according to his campaign.

Obama is hosting a town hall meeting on Tuesday at the American Airlines facility in Kansas City.

Someone want to give him geography lessons?

It's the 58th State he's been to.   rolleyes

He's probably been to so many places recently he has forgotten which place he is in.

I have seen some people reference something about him and the number of states. Did I miss something funny/scary?

When I was travelling for work, I'd commonly forget what state or city I was in.  It got so bad I actually would leave notes for myself by my travel alarm clock:

You are here to see Company XYZ

I still think it's a dumb mistake, but at least it's a dumb mistake I can identify with, vs. not knowing how many houses I own.

Considering the Dems have been blasting Bush all these last 8 years for his word foul ups, they deserve all the criticism they get.

Considering his wife probably handles it all, I really don't care how many homes McCain owns.  I would have to sit and count in my head if someone asked how many guns I own.  I try to avoid counting so I can honestly tell people I don't know and avoid having to lie.

If I was well off enough to have more than 3 houses, I bet I would have to think on it also.  Smiley

As gaffes go, this one is so minor and so understandable as to not even merit it's own thread.

Let's not lose focus of the potential Obomination in the making.

Being originally from KC on the Kansas side there is an intense rivalry between the two cities.

I've lived near St. Louis most of my life, and this is the first I've heard of it.  Well, OK, fellow-Missourian Rush Limbaugh also mentioned it today, so that's the second.

Other than sports rivalries, I never hear anyone mention KC at all.

Game seven was a blow out.  I will give you that the call in game six was blown.  But afterwards St Louis just folded like a cheap suit.

But it isn't just about sports.  There is also a big fight about who has the best BBQ.  Which those that matter know it is KC. laugh

I guess that's true if you're talking about west of the Mississippi, but further East, we prefer our pork bbq to not be slathered with flavor hiding sauce.  Eastern NC style it is.  kthxbai.

The answer is Kansas.  The reason is that both Oklahoma Joes are located in Kansas.

As far as Obama; Mistakes like this are easy to make when one is traveling as much as he is.  One slip up and everyone on here is busting his chops about it.  Have you never thought one thing and said something else?  I know I have...
