Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says that paying higher taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans.

Biden says he and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people.

Under the Democrats economic plan, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less  the vast majority of American taxpayers  would receive a tax cut.

Biden told ABCs Good Morning America on Thursday that, in his words, its time to be patriotic & time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.

And what about small business owners who file as individuals.

Because wealthy people aren't already paying taxes, starting businesses, creating jobs, etc.  Wouldn't it be cool if about fifty or so of the targeted class would get together, write up a list of things they've done that have helped their country, then asked O'Biden what he's done for his country lately?

On that head, I looked up Biden on Wiki to see if he had served in the military.  According to Wiki, he received five draft deferments.  And I hear that he voted for the Iraq war.  So I guess the Democratic Party will issue formal apologies to Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, and others who've been criticized for not serving.

All the rest of America has to do is to look at states like Wisconsin, where high taxes have driven businesses and their owners to move to other states. Once those businesses are gone, the jobs are gone, too. Once the jobs are gone, the unemployed get their measly $310 a week. Once that runs out, they go on welfare.

The welfare has to be paid by somebody, so it's up to those who have any income left to shoulder the burden. When they get sick of being bled, they leave, too.

Pretty soon you have a wasteland that is only sustained by federal dollars and money from counties within the state that don't have a welfare class.

There's no way that the top 5% of income earners can pay for everything Obama/Biden are promising the middle class.

But promising free money to voters is like giving away heroin for free. It isn't long before you have junkies who depend upon you, and you control their lives.

Makes you wonder why he didn't suggest cutting 20% out of the Federal Budget across the board, with a 10% reduction in pay for all Federal employees, and a moratorium on any more earmarks in any legislation for the next 10 years.  

This frigging idiot and his partner are talking about socializing health care as if there is not enough to pay for now.

These guys are going to fiddle while Rome burns, I just hope we can pull them out of their holes in a couple of years in Switzerland or wherever they flee, to face the American public for justice.

Sorry, starting to get real worried I know just enough about finance (Master's Degree) to know how close we are to the edge right now and I honestly see no way out except for gutting the Federal Government and making it responsible for regulating international trade and providing for the common defense (on a much more limited basis) and the radical reduction or elimination of all entitlement programs.  Unfortunately, it's too late and there is no way any politician alive today has the ability to lead us out of this desert.

Yea...  I'm working my first real private sector job.  Prior to this I did part time or govt work.  I have to avoid looking at my pay sub.

If Biden wants to be patriotic, he can start by gutting the PATRIOT Act.  Then maybe reform a lot of the more useless business regulations.

Actually, NH, Vermont, Maine, upper NY, all of PA except Philly and a narrow chunk of the eastern border.  The People's Republic would probably get NoVA, Maryland, NJ, Philly, some parts of eastern PA (NJ has been slowly infiltrating), NYC area, CT, and Mass. 


Vastly unlikely, but it'd be amusing to see a Berlin style wall surrounding Philly.
