Biden: Wealthy Americans Must Pay More Taxes to Show Patriotism

Hi everyone. Throwing my hat in the ring.

I work for one of those companies that is owned by those "rich people" that Biden wants to tax. The organizational chart that I'm in has 3 rungs. Me, the guy above me, and the guy who owns the business. I don't know exactly how many people are employed, but I would guess it is 30 or less and has been around since 1983.

I get paid well, with health coverage included at no cost to me (no dental), PLUS a nice yearly bonus. (There are some bad sides to being a cable rat though, like going into 14" high crawl spaces that nobody has been in since the 1980's to run cable.) You start taxing my boss more, do you think he is going to eat that? No, he is going to cut costs. Probably cut one or two of the tech support ladies and deal with the longer phone hold times the customers have to deal with. Cut a tech or two, meaning longer wait times for equipment repairs. Less new equipment, fewer new vehicles, fewer bonuses and benefits.

This sort of reminds of when people whine about the evil Europeans taking land in the Americas.  Since it's usually pampered well-to-do white liberals who make this complaint, my thought is "why don't you donate your property to an Indian tribe then?"  Put the money where your mouth is!

I actually had a dream a few months ago.  In it, I encountered Obama at a Rally.  Don't know why I was there, maybe to spit on the hippies or something.  Anyways, I had the chance to ask him.....of the three employees I have, after you raise taxes, which one should I fire so I can continue to afford my lifestyle?

You obviously don't know New England, then. Massachusetts and Connecticut would likely become a socialist state. New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine would do their own thing, a "League of Go Away and Leave Us Alone", more like it.

Actually, NH, Vermont, Maine, upper NY, all of PA except Philly and a narrow chunk of the eastern border.  The People's Republic would probably get NoVA, Maryland, NJ, Philly, some parts of eastern PA (NJ has been slowly infiltrating), NYC area, CT, and Mass. 


Vastly unlikely, but it'd be amusing to see a Berlin style wall surrounding Philly.

Most of the liberal Democrats are essentially socialists.  So from their point of view it is patriotic to pay taxes....  as Joe B said.... Hey, get with the program!  Obama is more liberal than most of them.  He is just putting on a different face for his presidential bid.  John Kerry was pretty darn liberal too.  Just look at who the Democrats have chosen for their presidential candidates.  Of the recent ones, probably only Bill Clinton comes close to main stream America beliefs with a tinge of socialism.  That tinge comes mostly from his wife's influcene.

That's why he does not contribute much of anything to his church or charity in geneal.  He believes in the government redistribution of wealth.....  but not to churches or religious groups..... oh that would be government supporting a specific religion.

Yes, a common man pays almost $200 a day to commute to work.  But maybe the rest of us may see that when gas goes up a bit, (a lot bit).

The sad thing about Obiden et cie is their belief structure:  Raising taxes on oil companies will get more oil, and cheaper gasoline.  Duh?  Raising the capital gains tax will not reduce sales transactions of capital items and thus the availability of investment capital--and taxes.  Duh?  Raising the death tax will not result in more tax-avoiding trust funds or movement of monies offshore.  Duh?

There are reasonable odds that I'll die in a nearly-broke condition, but my kid just might know where there is a bunch of rare coins and bullion...

I think about that every time I see that commercial where Obama says he'll enact a "windfall tax" on oil companies, and I always wonder if he actually believes that is going to help anything, or if it is just populist pandering.  It's one thing he and his ilk just can't comprehend  (or maybe they just conveniently ignore): businesses don't pay taxes!  They might write the check but we're the ones paying for it when we purchase their products.  How is yet another tax on the oil companies supposed to give me relief at the gas pump?  Absolutely mind boggling!

It's important to remember that while raising taxes on the "upper class," the politicians make sure to have sufficient carve outs from the tax code so that they and their friends aren't additionally burdened.  They all are, of course, the upper class.

One of the reasons the tax code is so massive is due to the special circumstances and carve outs politicians are paid to put in.

Things would be a lot simplier with the Fair Tax plan being enacted and just trash the existing system.

Biden and Obama (and many Democrats in Congress for that matter) know that raising taxes on all oil companies only shifts more revenue to the central government and the little folks will pay the price at the pump.  It is all about redistribution of wealth and buying votes.  They know better how to spend your money.  But.. it will only mean about $0.03 per gallon (guess).... get with the program.
