I had an eeepc for a while and just could not handle the small screen(7 inches).  I think I  may have to look into a Wind or similar sized product.

I got around to listing my eeepc for sale.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/sys/859990414.html

I can't decide what I'm going to replace it with yet. I wanted SSD but the best deals in Acer One's all have HDDs.

zahc:

I gawked at your listing.

One question:  Were you attacked by a squadron of teeny-tiny RC planes and used the bottom of your EEE to save yourself from the multitude of lacerations their props would have caused?

Just wondering.

Also, I pass by UTD when I bike into work.

The Wind arrived yesterday and boy is it cool!  For those of us who are used to 14-17 inch laptops, it feels very small.  And yet it is fully functional.  The quality of the workmanship, fit and finish is frankly better than my recent-model HP laptops.  And with a matte, as opposed to shiny, screen, I can see it better.  The screen brightness is incredible at the max.  It runs far quieter and cooler than any laptop I have had before.  I have to get used to the smaller keyboard, but that should not take long.  Of note, there is no keyboard flex when typing.  I can already tell that this is going to be a lot handier during travel than the full-size laptops.

PS: the sound quality from the small speakers on the bottom of the case is bad.  That doesn't matter too much to me since I am partially deaf anyway.  Sound quality from headphones is good, however.

jfruser: Where do you work?
I have never hesitated in improving something's function, regardless of how many people may laugh at me for it. The eeePC has the most poorly designed 'cooling' system ever. I improved it.

@lahc: what you did is hideous! Absolutely hideous! I can't look at it!!

I plan getting a One A120. That's a tiny netbook both in stats and in size. I definitely need a replacement for my current notebook, since 36 MB of RAM are a tad limiting (the One A120 has 512 MB and 4 GB flash storage). I actually prefer a small screen since they do not have this horrible effect that the color changes at the edges if you look mainly at the center of the screen. I get a headache from that.

I am aware that on that netbook, /home would need to go on a separate medium, but most other netbooks fail in other areas. All the really good ones seem to come with XP and there is no way in HELL that I'm paying for Microsloth Wondoze!  undecided
