Just so you know which ones to vote against, which ones to commend, and which ones need their feet held closer to the fire: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml

In other news, the House.gov home page has been down since the vote due to an excessive volume of traffic. Maybe Americans do care what their government does. I only wish we so adamant on all issues of government's self-granted power. undecided

I don't get it. The link is to a bill that should have died and did.

The fight ain't over. This bill will most likely be revised, and re-tried. So don't put your pitchforks back in the tool-shed just yet. If you see your critter on the list, call 'em up/email them. Depending on how they voted, you should have some idea of what you might want to say.

The House of Representatives is currently experiencing an extraordinarily high amount of email traffic. The Write Your Representative function is therefore intermittantly available. While we realize communicating to your Members of Congress is critical, we suggest attempting to do so at a later time, when demand is not so high. System engineers are working to resolve this issue and we appreciate your patience.
The problem ain't with the email system, bud. My patience has run out.   angry

Edit- 5 of the 9 TN reps voted NO.  I called my Rep in DC to thank her and urge her to stay the course & the staffer said that she had been working there two years and has never seen anything like the current volume of calls.

The bail-out bill isn't dead, not by a long shot.

While the pols prattle about protecting savings accounts, they practice fiscal policies that make saving a JOKE.

Please.  We have a runaway addict on our hands here.

Georgia's senate representation is a 100% failure. Both voted 'yes.'

Overall, if just 25 or 26 of the 'yes'-voting Republicans had actually voted like Republicans, this bill would have been shot down.

Oh well, back to the house. I have to go round up some chickens and buy some tar.

I've written Feingold to thank him. He does listen to his constituents and if they are really against something he pays attention. Kohl and my congress critter Kind on the other hand have both been informed that not only am I voting against them but I'm going to be active helping others vote against them also. Kohl isn't up till 2012, unfortunately for him I hold grudges.

Wow, I'm amazed liberal old WA split on this, but the supposed bastion of conservative goodness Texas went for it %100. Who was suggesting Hutchinson would've been a great VP choice?  rolleyes

The trouble for MT is that the GOP candidate running against Mad Max Baucus is a certified nutcase.  We had like six senate hopefuls in the primary and somehow Kelleher won the plurality (30-something percent) Sad  (I voted for the logger/rancher from western MT)

The perenially unsuccessful Kelleher is pushing for a parlimentary system and full govt health care, among other things  rolleyes

I have to say that on this at least I am impressed by Tester.  Our democrats in MT are generally more "conservative" than republicans in some other states.

CORRECTION: Roll Call #681

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll681.xml

I take it that #680 was to consider the vote.

I had a feeling there were more traitors than that.
