We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set.  We've gotta have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.

You make a very very good point.  Obama's got a lot of the tell-tale signs; the hero worship, the lofty goals and speeches, the image of a uniter, and the darker past that his devoted are willing to ignore.  That video of the singing children shows us that we are experiencing something in American politics that has previously not been seen here.  The cult of personality, the devotion to a person instead of to a set of beliefs, like the Constitution, has been seen before.  And it never ends well.  Serious bloodshed is usually to follow.

He has most of the signs.  But as of now, he has no teeth.  He has no Party, no brown-shirts.  Once he grows some, the game will be afoot.

I often read Obama quotes and have no idea what the hell he is proposing.  What is a civilian national security force? What would he like it to do? He never says these things, he just says feel good crap.  For example, let me finish this quote:

It certainly wouldn't be an armed security force of Obamaites, that's for sure.

I can guarantee that if it were, a lot of good people would sign up as a safety measure, and frag the hell out of any brownshirts if they decided to do something bad to innocent people.

I think a couple incidents like that would guarantee that the Obamaites would be armed and given almost carte blanche to do as they would under new "security" mandates.  In fact, I'd say the Dems wouldn't mind seeing a couple incidents like that just to prove the need for both the security force and heavier restrictions on everything from guns to right wing radio (who surely gave such "good people" the idea).

You're missing my point. The "good people" would sign UP with them to keep an eye on them and stop them from within if needed. Why I mentioned a "frag".

Every "stormtrooper" in history has had to watch his back.  Whether it was the SA, SS, Khymer Rouge, NKVD, KGB, Stasi, Securitatia, etc, every member has known that a subordinate trying to gain power or a superior in a moment of pique could be (and often was the end of them).

Fear of the public or of internal dissent has never eliminated an oppressive force; it's only strengthened.  The answer to "good people protecting the innocent" is making sure said good people are on the front lines oppressing the innocent.  Once they've ground their jack boots into a face or two, they become what they hate in their own eyes or the eyes of the people.  It's hard to say "I'm on your side" to a person whose father or mother you helped eliminate.
