HA1 Ha. this little bit of agression is pretty funny, especially happening here in Berkeley- people are so mellow usually, and welll ok-

so i am walking down my street, checking my truck parking (meters, etc) -

a jogger has blocked a driver's car , is SCREaming at him. driver has gotten out.
Jogger is in good shape, but not that big. driver is a Big guy, but a wimpy type. ALso- driver is being very apologetic, he made a poor stop, jogger was probably RUnning theu crosswalk, ok stuff happens.

well i am watching for a bit as i am walking up- too funny, all these housewives driving by keep stopping "is everything ok?"

driving repsonds "oh, its ok, this guy is just real mad"

now as i am passing them, jogger starts heading towrds driver, now yelling threats about "im gonna beat you"

and this is a 40+ hippy looking jogger so im already laughing.

well that's enough, this is my little hood, sorry.

walk right up to jogger- "YOU are NOT going to do aNYTHING but shut up and walk away or get beat into the road and dragged off to jail!"

driver says thanks! jogger says NOTHING, starts to leave.

i say - "look, you messsed up (to driver) - you (to jogger) YELL at him , and go get on with your life. there will be NO fighting.!"

ha ha.

yet another housewife passes. driver: "oh its ok, this guy (jogger) thinks he's a tough guy"

me, a few feet away now - "look i AM a tough guy- BOTH of you need to leave NOW"

ha ha. driver thanks me again, jogger is already gone.

yelling is fun. a fight in the street would have been so stupid.

While I do find the story amusing, and I think you did the Right Thing(tm), I would stay out of it next time.  When it's two able-bodied males fighting it out, I usually rip open a bag of popcorn and find myself a cold beer.  No sense in me getting in the middle of something like that.

Obviously the rules are different when it's an able-bodied male and a woman (especially if she's attractive) or a child.

I understand that in many situations it is best to mind your own business, but if crime and violence are happening where you live, it IS your business.

 Of course, you should use discretion when intervening; if you see two jackasses in a fist fight, call the cops.

As long as it's 1 on 1 let 'em go. I've watched a few street / bar fights in my day. I remember "The Karate Kid" my next door neighbor, big Karate guy. Decided one day he was going to pick on this great big tough neighborhood kid for some fun and to prove what a man he was. I watched sitting on the front porch as this kid proceeded to teach him a lesson. I can STILL just about hear the knuckles cracking on his jaw. Where else you gonna find free entertainment like that?

I'll give The Karate Kid one kudo though. He DID take his beating like a man.
