Uh.  Yeah.  I know about re-crowning barrels.   ;/

But, no, I don't have the tools, whatever those might be.  I wouldn't do any of that myself; I know I would screw it up.

If the barrel is screwed in, unscrew it and turn it in a lathe...

Oh. It's an SKS.

Why even bother?

(hacksaw, golfball and some sort of abrasive, but you're probably not gonna like it anyway)

You live in Catawissa?  There's a gun club in De Soto.  Bulls Eye.  Not quite as nice as Benchrest, but might be a little closer.  And it doesn't cost quite as much.  I used to be a member, when I could afford that kind of thing.   =)

Anyone who can make a SKS shoot 1MOA or under should receive the Nobel Prize for Physics and Engineering....

I actually followed somebody else's lead in doing the serious target SKS thing. He was a gunsmith with a penchant for doing things just because other folks told him he couldn't.   =D

As for putting a new crown on a muzzle, the brass round-headed screw w/lapping compound and cordless drill routine actually works pretty well.
"Bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round...
