We heard from Paul in Afghanistan
« on: December 21, 2008, 11:36:16 AM »
Got a phone call from our Son in Afghanistan.  Says he is doing "OK"  We passed along the idea of getting his buddy's mailing addresses for care packages.  He said he will pass the word along.

In the meantime he would gladly share with his buds.

PM me for address if you want.  I'd rather not publish it openly.

Thanks for caring!

Glad to hear he is doing fine. Send me a PM with his needs and wants and we'll see if we can't get them filled.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed an interest in helping out Paul.  His mother and I appreciate your concern.  This is the first time he has ever been away from home for a major Holiday and both he and his mother are bothered by missing the family celebration.  I remember being on the deck of the USS Benewah in the middle of a dark brown river.  Not having family around is tough the first couple of times.

Once again, thank you from his mother and I, and especially from Paul

Me too on the PM. My first Christmas away from the family was in 96. I was sitting on top of an A-10 changing an engine when the sun came up in the Kuwaiti desert. We all paused for a few moments and stared at the sunrise. None of us were mentally in Kuwait during that few moments. All were with our family back home.

I'll take a PM as well, if you would.

Ok Grandpa Shooter, my wife and I sent a package for your son today.  We sent him 46 pounds of stuff, filling every request on his list.  It's the least we can do.  =)

Tell him we want him and his brothers to come home safe. And if he wants or needs just shout. We are very proud of our men in harms way. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I would like a PM as well.  Paul's needs, or anybody else.

GS,
Check your PM's.  I got a question for you there.
