What did you get for Christmas?
« on: December 26, 2008, 12:37:00 PM »
As far as gun related, I got a Wilderness Titanium CSM belt, some CCW hidin' appropriate clothes, and gun cleaning stuff from my wife.  Due to the NW snow situation, several of my presents are stuck at my MILs, but I suspect I'll be getting some magazines, and ammo from her family.

Anybody get anything cool, gun related or not?  =)

Got a few smaller things that were neat, but the biggie from the wife was a nice LG 22" widescreen monitor for the comp.  :)

They gave me a warm shirt for outdoor work and a piggy bank. And I'm more or less flat broke, thinking of selling a couple of competition rifles...

Received a couple DVD's and books (investing for dummies, etc.).  The big (and totaly unexpected) present was a new computer.  The only gun related item was a cool mouse pad covered in bullets.

$150 gift card to Ikea, which we will use to purchase a safer tv stand.  The old one is too small and was instrumentla in dumping the tv on kiddo last week.

Box of Godiva chocolate

The most cool thing was the Trucker's Atlas my cousin gave us--very complete roads info, many more city maps than your standard book of maps, and laminated pages for plotting routes with dry-erase marker.  It is awesome.

Not gun related but I got a helicopter for christmas. One of the ones from Radio Shack, the Mosquito. Cool thing is my buddy also has one and he's a teacher, with access to his school 24/7. Were going to go fly them around the gym this weekend  =D

New jacket and a wall clock for my garage. Kind of lean this year, but that's the way "the fam" decided to go.

Now I just need to find a place I can access a river and try to pull in some salmon or steelhead.

I got three pairs of wool socks and a cap with ear flaps.  My wife got a root canal and a crown.   (all bought before xmas - no unwrapping).

We had some neighbors over for dinner last night (xmas day).  I did get a bottle of (blended) Scotch.  =)

Oh, and we got another six inches of snow overnight ...  ;/

I received a lot of candy, cash (which will go straight towards purchasing next semester's textbooks), a nice stocking hat, gloves, and several music books I wanted.

Gun-related?

I got the entire Firefly series on DVD, plus the Serenity movie.

Mrs. G-98 put a Winchester Model 94 Big-Bore in the oddball .375 Winchester on layaway for me, too.   =D

My wife and I have an agreement to not exchange gifts, but I bought her a chrome grille for her PT Cruiser. She completely took me by surprise by getting me the first two seasons of "The Untouchables" on DVD.

The only gun stuff I got was John Taffin's "Book of the 44".  My grandparents gave me money since the have no idea what to get for the grandkids anymore.  I used that money to buy the rims I need for a set of bike wheels I'm going to build (650B SS MTB wheels).  The in-laws gave me two nice suits (got fitted for them around Thanksgiving, so it was hardly a surprise yesterday morning).  I got more clothes from other family members, a book on the beers of the world from my BIL and his wife, some gift cards, and a new cog for my fixed gear bike.

I got Salt by Kurlansky and his book about oysters (title escapes me) from our resident curmudgeon.  I read his book on Cod earlier this year.  So far Salt is very interesting.

Nice I'm thinking about using my Christmas cash towards a .30-06 Remington 760 I saw in a gun shop.

Basic set of Calphalon pots and pans. Made an omelet first thing off in the fryer, niiice...

Gun related? A double barrled SG butane lighter that flames out both barrels when you pull the hammer back, for lighting the grill. I put it on the mantle.

Do you see a pattern forming here?   =D

cheap mp3 player to replace old one that broke, and brass and bullets for loading for my Mauser 71/84. Still have $135 in cash that I haven't decided what to do with yet.

A boat.  I think its my christmas present for a few years......

I did score some BPS gift cards, and some Dick's gift cards.  And a new electric razor, before Christmas without any pomp and circumstance.  Its really about the kiddos anymore for us.
