I would uninstall MSN Explorer (Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs-->Add/Remove Windows Components, deselect MSN Explorer, OK). If he insists on using MSN for his browsing, I would reset the computer, go back to the same window, then reinstall it. That would be the simplest way to (hopefully) clear out the problems. Does Internet Explorer work correctly on the computer? If it does, then the above should fix it. After uninstalling it, you may have to root out things left behind in the program directory and possibly the registry. But hopefully a standard un/reinstall should fix it.
