Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Didn't Peanut and Jeff Dunham already invent a gay superhero?

Minor: Northstar from Alpha Flight.

This is the first one I remember being explicitly described as gay.  And that wasy quite some time back.  Late 80's?  Early 90's?

At least he's not rewriting a character so that they suddenly come out of the closet, as was done with Colossus and Jarvis in the Ultimate Universe, and the alternate reality John Shepherd in SG:  Atlantis.

You're in luck.  Confuzzlement is quite fashionable at present.  Just ask Stan Lee.  Or Gavin Newsom.   =)

Every single long-held American tradition does not need to be bent to the whims and pandering of the liberal revisionists.

I see it as part of the same movement that has deleted toy guns from the hands of kids playing in their yards, that tells them that playing "War" or "Cowboys and Indians" and even "Cops and Robbers" is unacceptable.

ROTFLMAO   =D
The gayz stole our Cowboys and Indians and Cops and Robbers!!!!

OHH NOOOZZ the gays are ruining everything! (except interior design)

Or maybe its just because they play those games totally different from how they were played in your days  . . . .

Oh god, I love it when Republicans think everything is about themselves and everything affects them.

When children are SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED from playing such games at schools (and by stupid liberal parents), it is not paranoia to suggest someone is trying to change what the children do.

It's not "they play those games totally different from how they were played in your days", unless you're talking about baseball or football.

We kept score "in my day" (which, btw, was growing up in the 80's... how about that, longing for the EIGHTIES as the good old days).

We also played "Elimination" or "Bombardment"- how are kids "playing those differently" today?

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Think Call of Duty.

We played Quake, GTA-2 and Half-Life on my school computers when I was a kid, and nobody seemed to mind.

Much as I love those games, it's not the same.

It's killing pixelated characters controlled by an opponent.

That's great and all, but it's not the same as a physical struggle against a physical opponent. (Which, having been a small person until after high school, I recognize the challenges. I absolutely loved that game though- maybe I wasn't an offensive force but that skinny boy could MOVE)

Well done on a parallel, though- I hadn't considered PVP.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

That is true. These are however very violent games in some ways. :)

Did you actually read what he said?  He didn't blame "gays" at all.

Such as?  You're quoting an adult, talking about how children play.  So, how is he construing this as all about himself?  He doesn't even have any children.

I'd seen a list like that. One of the ones I found amusing was "attract dust more rapidly".

Gay superheros aren't created!

They're born! They're that way naturally!

big deal. gay superheros already exist.

northstar? i think thats his name. anyway, canadian mutant.

KNEW I remembered at least one.  Thanks for reminding me.

Northstar came out back in the Eighties, IIRC.  His twin sister (Aurora) had Multiple Personality Disorder.  Not a happy family.

Other homosexuals in comics: in 'The Authority' (minor-label series picked up by Wildstorm, IIRC), two of the major characters were very openly in a homosexual relationship - the Batman analogue (Midnighter) and the Superman analogue (Apollo).  Apollo was frequently written and drawn as being ever so slightly effeminate, IMO  - but he could fly, was basically invulnerable, could juggle battleships, and had heat vision.  He didn't get bashed.  =D  And people had even LESS desire to take on Midnighter, who mixed Batman's fighting skill, Wolverine's hyperviolent attitude (times about a thousand), a degree of superhuman strength, speed, and toughness, and a precognitive sense that allowed him to counter your attacks before you made them.  I actually liked that their relationship was neither particularly in-your-face nor in-the-closet.

I didn't know that they'd decided that Ultimate Colossus was gay.  Then again, I haven't read many comics in the last several years, either.

Mike, your comment was HILARIOUS.

Batwoman is another, and I didn't see her mentioned above.  From the Oracle at Wikipedia:

Quote
The modern Batwoman is written as being of Jewish descent and as a lesbian in an effort by DC editorial staff to diversify its publications and better connect to modern day readership.
