If you haven't seen it before and question why we shouldn't of helped the Iraqi people, then I suggest you watch it.
Is that the reason we went into Iraq, to help the people? I think I remember something a little bit different.
We never should have gone. Since we did, this is a moot point, and really, this is just my opinion, but we never should have gone. Yes Saddam was a nasty person, but so are a lot of leaders. What about genital mutilation in Africa? Or the genocide in Darfur? Tibet? How about Somalia? The argument that we should have gone into Iraq to help the people there is not valid in my opinion, because we are not the policemen of the world, nor should we be.
This is a community of people who, in general, pride themselves on being able to take care of themselves, and one who knows the value of liberty. Who are we (as a nation) to invade a sovereign country that has not attacked, nor has any capability to attack us? To help it's people? We shall see in the next few years, how much help we have really been.
Don't get me wrong. I support our troops, and always take the time to thank a soldier when I see them. My friends who have children in the military, I ask them to pass along my thanks. I have utmost respect for our soldiers, and it saddens me to see them used in a way that hurts our country.
