What game is this?

Take any number 1-20.
Multiply by 9
Add the digits of your answer together to get a new answer.  If your new answer is a two-digit number, add those digits together.
Subtract 5 from what you have.
Think of the letter that corresponds to your answer if 1=A, 2=B, etc.
Think of a country that starts with that letter.
Think of an animal that starts with the next letter.

I answered don't know to the has any children question and whether or not he was married question but am quite sure I answered the others correctly.

Shouldn't that be Jaguars in Djibouti or Orangutans in the Domonican Republic?   ;)

(Also, apparently I immediately spell the more archaic "Ourangoutan" than the modern Orangutan)

Yep.  With 20 yes/no questions you can narrow something down to 1,048,576 unique choices, provided that you've got a valid question to halve the set each time.  There just aren't that many famous characters out there.  Maybe 100,000?

It's pretty easy when you narrow down the set of possible answers like that.

FYI:  It couldn't get Steve Prefontaine in 20 questions.

I was thinking of Huey Long, it gave me Harvey Milk.  It's twenty questions.  Process of elimination.  After it had eliminated fictional characters, actors, athletes, artists, it asked if I was thinking of a politician.  Then it asked if he was murdered, or if he was a head of state. 

After it guessed wrong, it gave me a list of about twenty or thirty other people.  Huey Long was not on the list, so I was asked to enter his name. 

It might have been thrown off by my answers.  It asked whether or not he was a criminal.  I don't know much about Huey Long.  I had the idea he was corrupt, so I said "Probably."  That may not be a very good answer.  Wiki says he was impeached, but not convicted.


Huey Long, known as "The Kingfish", was so crooked he had to have a couple of aides help him screw his pants on every morning. His son Russell was cut from the same cloth but managed to not get himself assassinated.

I tried Chesty Puller, too. Somehow, it came up with MLK Jr, I think...

Damned if I know...

Anyway, it has issues with a lot of people playing at once...

It got Rand Al Thor right from wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan.

quistions were pretty much

is he real?
is it a female?
does he fight?
with a sword?
does he use magical powers?
has he killed humans?
is he from america
is he from your country
is he an AI
is his hair white
is his hair black
is his skin white

and I think that that was about it....was impressed, I understand how it works, but still.....
