We're using the lawnmower engine and alternator because they were available to us for free to use. We don't have money in the budget to buy a whole lot.

Blown 427? Nah. Why think so small.

I hear that Jon Kaase has built a 900.2 cu inch monster mountain motor based on the 460 Ford. They only had to have a TWO INCH ( shocked) block extension to accomodate the 6.35" stroke (standard stroke on a 460 Ford is 4.362"). And don't even think about bolting your 750 double-pumper on top. This thing will have a minimum airflow requirement of almost 2500 cfm.

Pretty good ... if you compare it to, say, a supertanker.

Actually it probably won't be too bad considering there will be hardly any load on the engine, it'll almost be idling.
