BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  "..bring me *#^&@ chocolate milk!"

Once again, I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad I'm Childfree and don't have to deal with this kind of dren.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

Parents don't have to deal with this sort of nonsense.

Reason #1356 I never want to have kids. Funny as hell, though.

My kids are 9 and 11 and they wouldn't dare talk to me like that.

Was that his Mom playing that other character?

No wonder there are some boundary issues there.

I can't even begin to tell you what a kid of mine would have happen if he spoke to anyone like that, let alone his own mother.  Xbox would be crashed on or about his cranium at the least.  Kids need to learn some respect and video game play (and TV watching, etc.) needs to be monitored and limited.

Heh, sounds like a typical kid playing video games to me. The most efficient answer IMHO? Unplug the damn computer. Works every time! Then of course, we could and probably SHOULD set conditions that must be met before it gets plugged back in.

Sorry... were that my household, it wouldn't be available toplug back in. Nor would any other form of electronic fun: EVERYTHING would be lost by the child...

Typical "family" now days...where is the father?  Chances are their will be no consequence, Dad won't be home after work just as he hasn't been home for several years.

Kid had a point though, what if the mother was being inconsistent and breaking her word, and not having clear cut boundaries around the xbox.

He's 9, he had to learn it from somewhere.

If that were my kid, methinks the XBox would be up for sale on eBay.  And the kid would probably be too sore to sit down for a few days, and be tasting soap for the next few meals.

I'll agree with Winston to a point: the kid had to get the behavior pattern from somewhere. At a guess, I'd say it was probably from the mother, but not the way he thinks: she probably instilled it by permitting him anything. That's not conducive to instilling good values...

Ok, but it shouldn't be permanent, then the kid has nothing to achieve by staying within boundaries. However if staying within set limits the kid can gain reward (eg computer privleges back) THEN you have leverage. Leverage is good. The more a kid wants something, the more you can use it to control his/her behavoir pattern. Evil, I know, but it WORKS!

Cheesy

A good point was made, this kid LEARNED this behavoir from the parent's inconsistencies. So you can't blame and / or take it out on the kid.

Not enough info to ''tag'' the mother for decriptive purposes tho I suspect song long-time gaps in adequate parenting and discipline.

The kid tho??  BRAT - total brat.  Wonder why my hand itches - oh heck - not PC - can't strike nice lil' kids any more!

Just listening to the mother in the background, she obviously has no concept of discipline. She is the mother of a 9 yr old, but is arguing with him like she is a 9yr old herself. Pretty sad.
