What, no link to the video yet? Darn it...

There was apparently one of those "fuzzed out the good parts" links to Youtube, but it was pulled. Waiting to see if someone saved it somewhere so I can critique whether she was worth filming or not, purely for educational purposes.

The video is now at

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/wildcard-sex-ed/618938108

One lession I learned long ago is "Always screen your video before showing it to a class"...that avoids em-bare-assing situations like this...  :O

It's like watching football films, wrestling or a martial arts tournament.

Performance review. =D

Funny....I've only needed to record the audio for that....

BTW, when is MB going to post the link to his video...seeing that he's OK with showing sex scenes in public and all....

Well, if MB is overly sex-positive, "Joe" from the news story is certainly overly Puritanical.

What's so Puritanical about that?

I'd probably have said the same thing, myself.

Well, it seems to me "Joe" wants somebody else to take responsibility for telling his son about the birds and the bees. At the same time, he's probably against sex ed in schools, saying that's something that should be taught at home.

Ok.

And this teacher taught at what grade level?

5th grade.  Dayum.

You're absolutely correct. Perhaps we should start sex ed at Kindergarten. It's the only way, to hell with parents having that talk at home later on in grade school...

No, screw Kindergarten, too.  As soon as they're up on two feet, they should get exposed to it.  They should be able to explain what a fallopian tube is to their first grade teacher on the first day of classes. There.  Now it's fixed for everybody.

Maybe Joe simply cares enough about his son to want his first introduction to sex be something other than his 5th grade teacher's porn flick.

The specific reason I cannot provide you any links for the infamous video (apart from the APS rules!) is that it got banned from Pornotube. Since you've already seen image of me and 2swap, you can easily use your imagination to construct a mental image.

Apparently, she is not going to be fired.  Which makes absolutely no sense.

It appears I only jumped the gun with my calls for this awful woman to be fired by a few hours. I had expected someone to make one, and had been correct.

I didn't call for her to be fired.  That's simply the reasonable expectation.  She's not an awful woman, it's just silly to expect her to teach without a change of venue and possibly a change of name.

I don't know that I want her to be fired. But I damn well know my fifth grade son won't be able to concentrate (on acedemics) in her class after seeing that.

Micro: you're REALLY abusing hyperbole at the moment.

If I were a teacher, and made a mistake like that, I would already be looking to move into a different area. There is NO way she's going to be able to effectively teach, after that video's made the rounds.

and if you think there won't still be copies floating, you're being VERY naive...

If you think this person should be fired, then I am sorry, I can't help but disagree. My reasons for disagreeing are stated above.

Whether fired or not, I agree that there is no way she can effectively teach in that whole area anymore. Words gets out fast, even outside of the internet, when it comes to stuff like this. The unruly kids will always have leverage over her.
It would have been total anarchy in my class at school if the kids had that kind of knowledge of their teachers.

This is an angle which I haven't considered. Still, firing her would be entirely unfair.

I wouldn't worry about it....unless your son is repeating 5th grade...if so, you have other issues to address.....

She, and the school, definitely need to make a public apology. And some type of reprimand and/or censure needs to happen.  But I'm not so sure that firing her is the best option. Then she'd just end up in another school district where no one will know of this incident. At least, if she stays, the administration can make sure that someone screens her multimedia presentations....

Firing her would be a little to strong, but some sort of reprimand would not be out of line here.  Honest mistake sure, but sometimes honest mistakes come with consequences.

On that same taken, the father in the video is going over board.  Consoling?  Are you kidding me?  Yes she screwed up, yes she should apologize.  Big deal, have the talk if you haven't already and move along with your life.

It would, unfortunately, not be unprecedented either.  In the town my wife was from there was a high school teacher fired after it was discovered she did porn years before she got her life together, went back to school and got her teaching credentials.
