I'm headed north on Route 1 leaving BOS airport. I just passed a new Sonic drive in restaurant that had every parking space filled and an additional 20+ cars lined up along Route 1 waiting to get in.

These yankees are hurting for good food, I think.

Yea, we need one up here in CT. They keep showing us all the yummy food on the tube but we gots nowhere to get it.

Honestly, you are not missing anything...and the food looks way better on TV than it does in real life...

Now Chick fil a is pretty damn good. I have yet to have a bad dining experience at Chick Fil A. Of course, being a Southerner means I have never had a shortage of Chick Fil A, so it's something "normal" instead of "rare and extraordinary".

We don't have anything else (at all) in my town, but by god, we have two Chick Fil As if nothing else.

It is indeed pretty darn tasty.

It is not however the shrine to almighty fowl many 'round here make it out to be.

that's not redneck fastfood. you need to stop at either stuckey's - are they still in business - or waffle house/toddle house/perkins pancakes to get close, but if you want real southern fast food find a chicken'n'waffle place that only has a walk-up window.

That's another place that I tried, but never really understood.

The food was between McDonalds and Steak and Shake, IMO. I didn't (and don't) see the appeal. Maybe I tried the wrong menu item?

I suppose that's true. It's been several years since I ate there, so I don't recall much about the store or menu, just that the burgers were thin, bland and of typical fast food quality.

You got yer burger with onions.
You got yer burger without onions.

You can have fries with that.
Or not.

You can have a soda.
Or you can have a shake.

If you're really persnickety, you can get a burger without a bun... but that's so out of the realm of normal that it's not even on the menu.

Clearly a fast food joint for those who have problems making decisions.

Our local Sonic just closed, though there are others nearby. We still have a drive-in called Chuck-A-Burger that's been around forever. The funny thing is, they opened a shiny new location in an up-and-coming suburb. They had car shows there, just like at the other place. But it just folded.

I used to love Sonic's slushes. Real fruit in a lot of them, enough to clog a straw as you slurp them up.

You got a problem with White Castle?

I got some for my fiancee on her first trip north of the mason dixon line. She thought they were OK at the time we were eating them. The next morning I was informed White Castle is forever off the menu

Yes, but Krystal doesn't have the glorious chicken ring.

Not sure what part of the animal that comes from, but it sure is tasty.
