I think they are near Peoria (where I live). Just south of the I-474 bridge.

My parents live about an hour south of Peoria, ON the Illinois river. (I grew up with the sounds of tugboats).

We have a new fertilizer company that opened up in town using these asian carp since they are now over-abundant.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

That's some impressive shooting. Also, I dream of having a property with a small pond I can stock with these, then pull em out as fast as I can and smoke em.

Are any carp native to North America? 

I know some guys that are into Bowfishing pretty fierce and most of the carp they shoot are non-native fish (at least in one lake they use).

this is pretty cool. 

I have been bowfishing.  That looks like fun, but I am not sure it is harder than shooting the fish a foot or so deep in the water such that you have to account for light diffraction of the water is harder.  In addition, we were doing it at night with lights on a fan boat.  You have about a second or two between spotting the fish before it will swim away.  You have to keep an arrow ready and be able to let off a shot quickly.  The gar were quicker and saw us further out so we had to shoot quickly and at a greater distance.  It was a hell of a lot more fun than any rod and reel fishing outing I ever went on.

Give those guys a government grant!  They are helping the environment.  I envision a bigger boat pulling a net just above the water to catch the flying fish.
