Where's Outlook Express?
« on: December 11, 2009, 09:48:18 AM »
Just got an Acer netbook with Windows 7 and it apparently did not come with Outlook Express. I want to use this while on travel. It has Internet Explorer 8 but no mail program at all.

Since I use Outlook Express as my mail program and don't like to go to the web site to get and write mail, how do I get a copy of Outlook Express? I searched on-line and the only thing I found said that it was for Vista and XP only. Am I missing something?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Useful ones, that is.)

Well... you can use Thunderbird.

Not compatible with Hotmail, if that's your desire, though.

I went through Win7's "Windows Features" page and didn't see a checkbox for Outlook Express.

MS has replaced it with "Windows Live Mail."  Not sure if it's compatible with anything BUT hotmail, though.

Windows Live Mail is the Win7 Outlook Express equivalent.

Think of all the time you'll save after you finally learn how to use Win7.  ;/

Then you can upgrade to Win8

I bit the bullet and went Outlook.  I'm converting to it for client tracking (and to save a couple hundred a year on my current client tracking software, which seems to get less useful and more expensive every day).

Thanks for the info. I was aware of Windows Live Mail but wasn't sure what it really was nor where to find it.

Appreciate the inputs, including the tongue in cheek one.
