Best Ice Cream?
« on: January 14, 2006, 07:37:39 AM »
What is the best brand/flavor you have available?  I thought I was going to live a life of sin eating those two socialist's ice cream until I found www.lakesidecreamery.com . Of course, I can't find it around home. Absolutely the best ice cream by far I've had, pure pre-Type II diabetic bliss(until I fall asleep). If you are ever caught in the hell that is the Deep Creek Lake area of Maryland at least find some of this to improve your day. I'll take strawberry. Cheesy

Dunno about prepackaged, but the best ice cream I've ever had is Coldstone's.  I love their cake batter ice cream.

Nope, Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby, bar none.  VERY hard to find, but it has chocolate covered pretzel bits and is just better than sex.

Okay, nothing is, but almost...

I won't touch Ben & Jerry's. Mumia Abu Jamal.

Harris Teeter has a flavor called Southern Milk Chocolate. Quite incredible, and I"m not that big a fan of chocolate.

The Stork screwed up and dropped me in AR...
Folks consider me a Texan...
I'm Southern for damn sure .

Herein lies the Problem...Yarnell's is a Searcy,Arkansas based Ice Cream making place. I mean this stuff will make you slap your Grandma...right partial to Vanilla, then again Chocolate, then...

BlueBunny is Texas Based...damn good ice cream too.

Both still have the individual carton with the wooden spoon...this makes Vanilla tastes better...

Hey, I of all folks understand how folks get hanged, shot, hung again in "debating" BBQ, Beer, Ice Cream... in the South.

I'm Loyal to both Yarnell's and Blue Bunny.

We use Ben&Jerry's as Target Practice down here...Yep, sure do. Every head down Mr. Hermans Pecan grove, you might see the nooses ...folks just held Ben&Jerry's about chest level...hung...shot again...Hogs gotta eat too ya know...that is how come Pork BBQ is so ...now you see where the Pork vs Beef argument comes from in BBQ...Tongue

We do things different in the South...

Yum yum!

BTW,the anti-nonDutch comment comes from a co-worker.I happen to think it's funny.

No offense to anyone else, but if it doesn't say BlueBell, I probably wont eat it.  OK, who am I kidding, I will eat it, but I know it wont be as good as BlueBell Peaches and Homemade Vanilla.

Graeter's, in Cincy.  French Pot-style, no air in it.  Everything in it is made by them and utterly fresh.  My favorite is their Mocha Chip.  They make the chocolate that they use in the "chips".  Chunks of the best bittersweet chocolate you've ever had, the size of your thumb or bigger.  And the chips melt in your mouth.  When good chocolate is very fresh, it doesn't just melt-it sublimates, and this essence of chocolate aroma wafts into your nasal cavities.  I have had some good ice creams elsewhere, but Graeter's is in a class of it's own.

I'm glad I'm going to Cincy next week!

Blue Bell.  No contest.

Cinnamon Caramel Crunch (good luck finding it, though)

Those folks at Bluebell know what the hell they're doing.

Pre-packaged?  Definitely Godiva.

Fresh? You'll have to go to the Bellagio in a little town called Las Vegas, and order something from Cafe Gelato.  If I could afford it, I'd fly in once in a while just for that (and a huge lobster at the Rosewood Grille).

Blue Bunny Banana Split ice cream is my favorite, although my Grandma's homemade candy cane ice cream is hard to beat.

When I'm at the grocery store, it's Bluebell all the way.  None of that snooty Breyer's/Godiva/whatever for me, thank you.  I'll just have Bluebell Homemade Vanilla, 'cos I'm a simple creature.
For sheer vanilla heaven, though, nothing can top the Mexican Vanilla from Amy's Ice Cream in Austin.  It's sublime.

Coldstone is good but almost too sweet.  I like Baskin Robbins chocolate chip the best.

Ben & Jerry's is on the NRA anti-gun list. I will never buy ice cream from them if I can help it.

In Indy there's a place called Culver's that has fairly decent ice cream.

Newberry's Ice Cream in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  My 2 favorite flavors are Lemon Custard or Black Raspberry. I wish they had distribution, because if I get the craving for it its a 90 mile drive.

I'm not a Blue Bell apologist but I like their old ad campaign.

"Blue Bell Ice Cream tastes so good because the cows think Brenham is heaven."
